Kalimpong (10)

2009.05.08
This is the man we buy our peas off at the market.

Part of the stairway we take to come home, just at the top of these stairs is this puppy that loves me and hangs on to my ankles and tries to nibble the backs of my legs so I have to pick him up and take him home so he doesn't follow me all the way home. One day he followed me up to the road and then some way bigger dogs attacked him and he had to run away.

Another view of some buildings. Some many of the levels of these buildings including house aren't finished. Some of them are still being built but I think most have probably just run out of money. The place we are staying in, when Lhamo was building it she was working for an international center as a translator of Tibetan texts into English, and halfway through builing her house they left Kalimpong and she lost her job. She had to open up a shop with a government loan on the street level of our house to be able to earn money to finish the place.

A steamroller, in a hilly town, being held up by some small rocks. It was too priceless not to take a photo.

A segment of Kalimpong's lovely water infrastructure.
